Harry W. Rhulen

Founder & CEO

Harry is a former insurance group CEO where he led several public offerings and participated in over thirty M&A transactions.  

He is an attorney who serves as a trusted advisor, bringing critical decision support to many insurers, brokers, CEOs, board members, school superintendents, and government officials.  

He has served on the boards of several profit and not-for-profit entities, receiving humanitarian awards for many of his efforts, including the “Quality of Human Life” Award from the American Red Cross.

Harry is a member of the ASIS Crisis Management & Business Continuity Council and a Board Advisory Services faculty member of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD).

He is a co-author of Disaster Ready People for A Disaster Ready America.

Suzy has extensive consultative experience in crisis management and crisis communications on behalf of clients ranging from the world’s largest global companies to educational institutions and governmental entities.

Suzy’s hands-on crisis management experience, combined with her training and practice in legal exposures, enables her to provide critical decision support to clients in urgent crisis events.

Suzy has extensive public company experience, having served as both an officer and director of a NYSE insurance holding company and as General Counsel of a NASDAQ company.

Suzy serves on the boards of several non-profit organizations and has received many awards for her service, including the Anti-Defamation League’s prestigious ‘Americanism Award’.

Suzy is co-author of the book Disaster Ready People for A Disaster Ready America.

Jim has experience as President, CEO, and COO of various public and private companies in crisis management, environmental, insurance, reinsurance, risk management, and technology.

Jim has extensive expertise in the identification and quantification of risk along with solution design. He is a nationally recognized expert in crisis management.

Jim led the team that provided the crisis and media management support at Virginia Tech in response to the shootings, as well as hundreds of other client crisis engagements.

He has spoken to hundreds of groups on crisis management, risk management, governance, and disaster planning.

Jim is co-author of the book Disaster Ready People for a Disaster Ready America.

A licensed broker and insurance veteran, Carl was born into the business. The son of a retail agent in New York, Carl assumed responsibility of the family agency at the age of 22 following the death of his father. Recognized for his expertise and commitment to the insurance industry, Carl became a Certified Insurance Counselor, a national insurance professional designation for agency owners and producers. A decade later, Carl sold the agency and over the next 25 years, went on to hold various executive positions in Marketing and Business Development for national organizations in the insurance industry.

With extensive experience in retail, wholesale, program and carrier positions gained from DGA Insurance Services, an Acrisure Partner, The Simon Agency, Berkshire Hathaway Guard Insurance, Associated Mutual Insurance Cooperative, and United Capital Insurance Company, Carl is uniquely positioned to assist each of our partners in the insurance distribution chain.

A former officer of the New York Young Insurance Professionals, an affiliate of the Professional Insurance Agents of New York, Carl became known not only for his marketing skills, but his dedication to helping others around him succeed—his customers, colleagues, and the young industry leaders he mentored.

Carl joins us from Denver, Colorado, bringing broad subject matter expertise to the CrisisRisk team in underwriting, risk management, and strategic planning, as well as relationship building, business development and leadership.

Joseph P. Loughlin

Chief Claims Officer

Joe brings more than 30 years of experience within the insurance industry to CrisisRisk, serving in multiple executive roles. As Chief Claims Officer for a large national insurer, he directed the claims divisions responsible for medical malpractice, general liability, surety, and bad faith claims. He also served as Corporate Secretary and Executive Vice President for the public holding company and its insurance company subsidiaries.

Joe served as Managing Attorney of a large property casualty insurance company in-house law firm (40 attorneys) and as an insurance defense attorney, litigating medical and dental malpractice claims and general liability claims involving property owners, health club operators, contractors, and other business owners from the pleading phase through trial. Beginning his legal career as an associate at Gordon & Silber, New York, New York, he litigated asbestos claims on behalf of the Johns Manville Trust.

Nichole joined CrisisRisk in 2019, serving in the role of Deadly Weapon Team Coordinator. Her proven administrative, research and technical skills positioned Nichole to take on a greater role, administering all insurance programs that are serviced by CrisisRisk. In addition, her research skills are used to perform the critical function of open-source intelligence when responding to crisis events.

Originally from New York, Nichole is a 5th generation insurance family member, with roots deeply embedded in the insurance agency program business. Growing up, she worked in the Rhulen Agency, a specialty program insurance agency founded by her great grandfather, Max Rhulen.

Attending Blair Academy, Sullivan County Community College and Marist College, Nichole acquired skills in accounting and education.

Known for her photographic memory, technology, and information skills, Nichole provides invaluable support to the entire CrisisRisk team and the insurers, reinsurers, brokers, agents, and insureds we serve.
